The spectacular Harley-Davidson West Coast Rally took place in Langebaan over the past weekend (21-24 October 2010). Harley-Davidson Owners from all over the country (and even as far as Egypt) gathered at Club Mykonos for four days of socializing, out rides, Harley games, live entertainment, fireworks and great fun!
The West Coast Rally is an annual event organised by H.O.G. Breede River Chapter, H.O.G. Tyger Valley Chapter and the sponsoring dealership, Harley-Davidson Tyger Valley. This gathering is usually exclusive to Harley owners, but this time parts of the Rally Site were opened up to locals. Great interest was show and two locals made a decision and joined the H-D Family! They joined the other Rally goers on their brand new Harleys for the Mass Ride (Thunder Parade) on Saturday morning!
The (usually) quiet little town of Langebaan awoke each morning to that beautiful “potato-potato” sound of the Harleys flooding its streets, and was put to bed each night with music from some of the best local musicians the Cape has to offer.
Close to 500 enthusiasts, riding nearly 400 Harley-Davidson’s saw to it that Club Mykonos (and Langebaan) will never be quite the same again.
Harley Owners are very charity driven and this occasion was no different. Between Club Mykonos Resort & Casino and all Harley West Coast Rally Entrants, a total of R50 000 was donated to the Lion’s Club international Southern Africa in aid of reducing the surgery backlog in performing cataract operations in South Africa.
Don’t tell Langebaan yet, but we’ll be back next year!
